Thanks for going to see the Dante’s Inferno show at Unit Mayfair. You are right the work selected was not made for the show but it works. By the way I had the same response to the Bobbie Essers show although I really liked meeting her ( we are both Dutch), the idea/ composition was interesting but the execution a bit light weight for my taste. That said she was hailed as artist to watch by Frieze magazine and her show sold out on the opening night.
I don't go to see anywhere near as many exhibitions as you Darren but I try to visit a few new shows a week, maybe a private view or two. I am always looking for a 'connection' of some sort with the art I am viewing, and I agree that expectations are higher for the bigger galleries. I am definitely guilty of looking through the window and walking on by! Recently I have found a lot of exhibitions a bit lacking, or perhaps I've become a little jaded, but I did enjoy The Museum of Found Objects / Reniel Del Rosario at Rebecca Hossack and Shape Sorter / Group show at Marie Jose Gallery.
Hi Gema — a ‘connection’ with art is a wonderful thing when it happens. And I say that even if you can only get to 1 show a week then you’re winning! Thanks for the suggestions, as well. I havent (yet) seen those 3 shows!
I had to Google to make sure it was a real gallery and you hadn't made it up as a joke to see who clicked on it. 🤣
I’ve been trying to figure out which gallery you’re referring to. I assume Commonage and/or No Show Space? 🤔

I’m not surprised the B.Essers sold, but they can still get better! 🤪
Agree
"what do you expect when you set out to see art?"
